TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has increased the national Covid-19 vaccination target from the initial 181.5 million to 208,265,720. It will cover a wider demographic group, including the 12-17-year-old group.
“This number includes children and teens aged between 12-17 years,” said the Communications and Informatics Ministry spokesperson Dedy Permadi in an online press conference on July 13.
The increased target, Dedy said, is part of the government’s attempt to achieve the herd immunity to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission. It also in line with the additional covid vaccines that have arrived in Indonesia.
Dedy announced that 3.4 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAC movement and Moderna vaccines from the billateral partnership with the United States are set to arrive in Indonesia.
“Within this one week alone we will see the arrival of five vaccine [brands] from various sources,” he said.
In total, Indonesia will be receiving 17.8 million Covid-19 vaccines in this week alone, adding the total to 134 million doses, both in vials and bulks.
